On Sept. 6, 2018, 25-year-old Tracey Carrington was getting into a vehicle in the unit block of West Overlea Avenue when she was shot multiple times by an assailant later identified as Kenneth Davis.

The fatal shooting was reported as Carrington was leaving the S&S Lounge on Belair Road.

She later died from her injuries at the scene, police said.

On Wednesday, May 24, police say that they apprehended Davis, 32, following a lengthy investigation and charged him for his role in the fatal shooting of Carrington, which reportedly came after she witnessed a murder.

Davis is being held at the Maryland Correctional Training Center pending his next court appearance.

Carrington, a Dundalk High School graduate, starred as a guard for Morgan State, starting 81 games and averaging more than 16 points and five rebounds per game. She was named a captain of the team as a sophomore and studied sociology.

She ended her career as the Bears’ fourth all-time leading scorer, and 13th in steals with 124.

A three-year letter winner at Dundalk, she led the Eagles to a 1A/2A division title as a senior, was the Eagles’ Player of the Year twice, and finished her career averaging a whopping 27 points, 14 rebounds, 2.5 steals, and 2.3 assists per game.

Her jersey number 13 was posthumously retired by the high school. At the time of her death, Carrington was an assistant basketball coach and substitute teacher for Baltimore County Schools, according to her LinkedIn

“Tracey was a charismatic, quick-witted young lady who had a beautiful smile that could light up a room,” friends of the family said following her death. “She had a contagious laugh and a caring, giving soul.”
